Villa Rajawali is our newest and most secluded villa, with an unimpeded view of the southern horizon all to yourselves.
It’s a private hilltop haven, perfect for those who wish to trade a short, steep walk in exchange for a complete immersion in nature and solitude.
Highlights
An expansive outdoor lounge just right for enjoying yoga in the late afternoon light, a quiet morning meditation, or sipping a cocktail with friends while watching the Papuan Starlings roost on the fringing islands.
An open plan living area featuring an extra-king size bed with ocean views, and a lounge with cosy reading area, a spacious writing desk, and a daybed which can be converted to accommodate a third guest.
A signature open-air bathroom from which to gaze at the stars, bird watch or get caught in the rain, all while taking a shower.
The Hive, Restaurant, and North Lagoon accommodations are reached by a short walk. Along the way, you’ll have a spectacular view of the House Reef, deep water channel, and neighbouring islands.
Accessibility
Taking its name from the Indonesian word for eagle, Villa Rajawali has an eagle-eye view from a unique vantage point. This means that, unlike some of our more accessible Villas and Water Cottages in the North Lagoon, Rajawali asks a little extra from you in terms of effort. The reward? Complete and total privacy.
The villa is accessed via stairs leading up the hill. If you’ve stayed at South Beach before and eschewed the water taxi, then you will be suitably prepared. There are 133 stairs up a pathway which is narrow and steep in places. That’s slightly more than the 110 stairs to ascend the hill to South Beach…but there is no descent.
You will most likely have to dodge the coconut crabs, who find it to be a brilliant place to go about their coconut crab business. And don’t forget the monitor lizards basking in the noon sun.
