Transfer to and from our island is via private speed boat. We depart Sorong at about 09:00 on scheduled transfer dates, arriving at Misool about 4 hours later.
The first leg of our journey leads us out of the busy Sorong harbour and through a mangrove-lined strait with unbroken swathes of jungle on either side. As we approach the mouth of the strait, you'll see some traditional Papuan villages along the banks.
The sea slowly shifts from brown to green and finally to vibrant cerulean blue during the second part of the journey. We'll be crossing open water, and you will likely see massive schools of bonito tuna feeding at the surface. Whale and dolphin sightings are not uncommon.
The last leg of our journey brings us through the breathtaking scenery particular to southern Raja Ampat and the Misool area. There are myriad tiny karst islets and lagoons. About 45 minutes before we reach our island, we enter our own Misool Private Marine Reserve. We are often escorted by pods of playful dolphins.
We recommend our guests arrive in Sorong with Garuda Indonesia GA682 from Jakarta, arriving at about 06:35 in Sorong. If you wish to arrive on a different flight, we suggest you arrive one day early in Sorong. We are more than happy to help you book your domestic flights.
Unless you are combining your stay with a local live-aboard, one night off-gassing in Sorong after your stay at Misool will be necessary. Your hotel night in Sorong after your 7, 9, or 12 night stay with us is included in the package price - in other words, night 8, 10, or 13 of your journey is on us. We'll arrange your room as well as all breakfast, baggage services, and transfers to Sorong's airport in time for your flight the following morning. Please visit our FAQ page for more information.
